The importance of Canterbury Cathedral over time

Canterbury has been the most important spiritual center In England for five centuries.


Built In 597, the Cathedral was definitely finished between 1070 and 1077. Over time it has been destroyed several times like by the eartquake of 1382, but in the twelfth century, thanks to the restoration, the importance of the Cathedral increased.
Today the monument is intact, in fact you can visit it. It is now considered an extraordinary example of Gothic art.
It is the first example of English Gothic architecture, the plant is very big, the roofs are very high and the entrance is through the richly decorated porch on the south side.
The Canterbury Cathedral nowadays It isn’t just a spiritual center, but it is also a culture center not just for architecture but also for its peculiar style. This monument, furthermore, wants to guarantee safety of the piligrims and tourists visiting the Cathedral every year.
