Fashion yesterday and today

To understand an era it is enough to observe the history of fashion and its trends. Fashion year after year evolves, past eras are characterized by traditional fashions and counter-culture trends. Starting from the year 70 we will observe the evolution of thought and culture, which consequently influenced the way of dressing, hairstyles, make-up and much more. The 70s were a glamorous era of legendary rock stars, disco music and glitter, one of the exponents of this era is David Bowie who played with gender identity, redefining the boundaries between male and female since it was a time of pacifist protests to feminism. The iconic garment of this decade was the maxi dress. In the 80s the economic boom takes place, to models of perfect and conservative society. In London, punk was born, the aesthetics of the ugly symbol of anger and desire to protest, while in the suburbs of New York was born the hip hop culture, which included wearing jeans and oversized sweatshirts. In the 90s they arrive between top models and catwalks and between spice girl and Backstreet boys are born the bombers, the Dr Martens, the leather nail, the shirts in syrup that discover the navel and the Buffalo shoes that are back in fashion today. In 2010 fashion is a mix of 100 years of trends because it has developed a greater freedom of thought, so everyone dresses as they want without necessarily following the trends of the moment. In short, fashion has undergone many changes over the years but it is fascinating to understand how the history of an era can change the way people dress.
