Oceans on Mars

In March 24, 2021, the study published in the journal Science by researchers at the California Institute of Technology, coordinated by Eva Scheller, found that Mars could hide oceans of water in its crust that is trapped in rocks.
Previously it was assumed that these were dispersed in space, blown away by the solar wind, this recent study states that they are buried at a depth of between 100 and 1500  meters.
ccording to the authors of the study, its quantity would correspond to about half the water of the Atlantic Ocean.
Based on the data of some probes sent into orbit around Mars it was possible to elaborate the model of Mars in which the quantity of lost water was reconstructed and that which still preserves the red planet, during the course of its history. Some studies claim that in the past it was rich in water unlike now but, according to the Caltech researchers, part of this water is still found under its crust.
On February 18, 2021, NASA’s Perseverance rover landed on Mars can make an important contribution, to deepen the information on the amount of water trapped between the rocks.
