Luca
Luca is a movie that teaches a lot to everybody who watches it, either to its adult and young audience, because it normalizes to “not be normal” and to accept “stranger” people or things that we’re not used to see.
The movie opens in Italy, with two fishermen riding a boat at night while listening to some music , at one point a sea-monster steals their record player , the sea-monster almost gets caught in the net but luckily he manages to free himself and right after he disappears.
Under the ocean is full of sea-monster, one of them, which is the most important one, is called Luca Paguro, who lives with his family and always helps them with their house chores like taking out their fish (who are very funny because they act like sheep).
One day, while taking care of the fish, luca notices a boat passing above the surface, so he hides from them.. But deep inside he gets vey curious about what’s above the water, and even tho his parents always warn him to not go on the river, his grandma encourages him to actually go and experience whatever he’s curious about. At one point tho, destiny decided to let this two sea-monsters (the one from the beginning of the movie and Luca) but at first Luca thought he was a human because of what he was wearing(he was wearing a submarine suit) so to reinsure Luca, the mysterious boy decides to take off the helmet and introduces himself. This cute and weird guy is named Alberto, a young boy as old as Luca who loves to be free and lives all by himself. He is the one who teaches everything about life outside of the water. Alberto teaches him how tho live and walk, how to hide from humans when they go in the water , because they literally need to live a double life to not be killed from humans. One day, Alberto brings luca to his house where he brings all the stuff he steals from humans, the first thing Luca notices is a vespa poster, he seems so interested in it, and Alberto confesses that that’s also one of his favorite things and that he really wants one of those beautiful things to go around the world, so they decide to create one . Many days later, after many attempts to create a beautiful vespa, they start to try it to see if it actually works , by let it kinda slide down a small hill that end up in the sea. While doing this tho, Luca seems very scared to do this because, of course, he sees danger on doing this without knowing if it’s actually safe or not, here comes one of the most known parts of this movie, where Alberto teaches Luca how to not let anxiety bring him down from doing whatever he wants to do, by saying a very cute phrase:” SILENZIO BRUNO” witch in simple words means “shut up anxiety(Bruno)”.
After that they go back to Alberto’s house and he explains to Luca the way he sees the world, but Luca notices that it’s too late and he needs to go home.
While going back home he notices his mother is waiting for him and she grounds him, the day after she calls her uncle, who lives very far from the river, to send Luca to live with him. Luca decides to listen to what his grandma told him about doing whatever he wants, so he decides to go and live with Alberto. The day after Luca asked Alberto to go to a walk in the city and they find out that there was a Triathlon(a race which includes many sports), the ones who would win would receive a VESPA. There they meet Giulia who helps them to join the race and trains with them. Meanwhile Luca gets interested in school thanks to Giulia so he decides to go with her after summer and study at school with her. Alberto gets jealous so he decides to tell Giulia their secret, but after a little bit of time she accepts them.The day of the race Luca’s parents decide to look for him in the city. Almost at the end of the race it started raining so Giulia to help them to not get caught with their real form, but it didn’t work so everybody found out about them, but they actually accept them, also because a big part of the town is actually like them. They receive the Vespa because they won the race, but Alberto sells it to by Luca a Ticket to let him go study with Giulia. Alberto gets adopted by Massimo (Giulia father) and finally they’re all happy with their life without needing to hide their true self.
Luca è un film che insegna molto a tutti coloro che lo guardano, al suo pubblico adulto e giovane, perché si normalizza a “non essere normale” e ad accettare persone “strane” o cose che non siamo abituati a vedere. Il film si apre in Italia, con due pescatori che guidano una barca di notte mentre ascoltano della musica, ad un certo punto un mostro marino gli ruba il giradischi, il mostro marino rimane quasi intrappolato nella rete ma per fortuna riesce a liberarsi e subito sparisce. Sotto l’oceano è pieno di mostri marini, uno di loro, che è il più importante, si chiama Luca Paguro, che vive con la sua famiglia e li aiuta sempre nelle faccende domestiche come uscire i pesci (che sono molto divertenti perché si comportano come pecore).
Un giorno, mentre si prende cura dei pesci, luca nota una barca che passa sopra la superficie, quindi si nasconde da loro.. Ma dentro di sé diventa molto curioso di sapere cosa c’è sopra l’acqua, e anche se i suoi genitori lo avvertono sempre di non andare sulla riva , sua nonna lo incoraggia ad andare davvero a provare tutto ciò che gli interessa. Ad un certo punto però il destino ha deciso di far conoscere questi due mostri marini (quello dell’inizio del film e Luca) ma all’inizio Luca pensava che fosse un umano per via di quello che indossava (indossava un completo da sottomarino) quindi per rassicurare Luca, il misterioso ragazzo decide di togliersi l’elmo e si presenta. Questo ragazzo carino e strano si chiama Alberto, un ragazzino vecchio come Luca che ama essere libero e vive da solo. È lui che insegna tutto sulla vita fuori dall’acqua. Alberto gli insegna come si vive e si cammina fuori dal mare , come nascondersi dagli umani quando vanno in acqua, perché hanno letteralmente bisogno di vivere una doppia vita per non essere uccisi dagli umani. Un giorno, Alberto porta Luca a casa sua dove porta tutte le cose che ruba agli umani, la prima cosa che Luca nota è un poster della vespa, sembra molto interessato ad esso, e Alberto confessa che anche quella è una delle sue cose preferite e che vuole davvero che una di quelle cose belle vada in giro per il mondo, così decidono di crearne una. Molti giorni dopo, dopo tanti tentativi per creare una bellissima vespa, iniziano a provarla per vedere se funziona davvero, facendola scivolare un po’ giù da una piccola collina che finisce in mare. Mentre lo fa, Luca sembra molto spaventato a farlo perché, ovviamente, vede il pericolo nel farlo senza sapere se è effettivamente sicuro o meno, ecco che arriva una delle parti più conosciute di questo film, dove Alberto insegna a Luca come non lasciare che l’ansia lo dissuada dal fare quello che vuole, dicendo una frase molto carina: “SILENZIO BRUNO” strega in parole semplici significa “stai zitto ansia (Bruno)”.
Dopo di che tornano a casa di Alberto e lui spiega a Luca come vede il mondo, ma Luca si accorge che è troppo tardi e ha bisogno di tornare a casa. Mentre torna a casa si accorge che sua madre lo sta aspettando e lei lo mette a terra, il giorno dopo chiama lo zio, che abita molto lontano dal fiume, per mandare Luca a vivere con lui. Luca decide di ascoltare quello che gli diceva sua nonna sul fare quello che vuole, così decide di andare a vivere con Alberto. Il giorno dopo che Luca ha chiesto ad Alberto di andare a fare una passeggiata in città e scoprono che c’era un Triathlon (una gara che comprende molti sport), chi vincerebbe riceverà una VESPA. Lì incontrano Giulia che li aiuta a partecipare alla gara e si allena con loro. Nel frattempo Luca si interessa alla scuola grazie a Giulia così decide di accompagnarla dopo l’estate e di studiare con lei a scuola. Alberto, geloso, decide di raccontare a Giulia il loro segreto, ma dopo un po’ di tempo lei li accetta. Il giorno della gara i genitori di Luca decidono di cercarlo in città. Quasi alla fine della gara ha iniziato a piovere così Giulia per aiutarli a non farsi beccare con la loro forma reale, ma non ha funzionato quindi tutti li hanno scoperti, ma in realtà li accettano, anche perché buona parte della la città in realtà è come loro. Ricevono la Vespa perché hanno vinto la gara, ma Alberto la vende a Luca un Ticket per farlo andare a studiare con Giulia. Alberto viene adottato da Massimo (padre Giulia) e finalmente sono tutti contenti della loro vita senza bisogno di nascondere il loro vero io.
