“The Boys”: A tv series that talks about superheroes that use their powers for being bad…
When i was a baby i was sounrounded by good superheroes that used their powers to make people happy : Spiderman, for example, used his cobwebs to make his city sure; even Batman, provided with his guns, did the same thing.
And so i always thought that all superheroes were born good to make good and to protect their cityes from villains.
But, two years ago, a new superheroes tv series was released on amazon prime video: it was called “The Boys”; I was interested and so I decided to see it.
But from that moment, I’ve stopped to believe in superheroes to whom I always believed, here’s why: the first episode presents a young guy, Hugie Campbell, that believes in a group of superheroes called “The seven”; but one day, a member of them, A- Train, a superhero with a powerfull speed, runs over his girfriend and kills her.
In front of this event A- Train feels undifferent; he apologizes, but his excuses are not honest; and so the young Hugie doesn’t believe in “The seven” any more and he decides to revenge his girlfriend declaring war to superheroes.
Hugie is not the only who wants to fight against “ The Seven” because a terrifying man, called William Bucher, wants to bring back his wife Becca that has beeen kidnapped and raped by Homelander, the leader of “ The Seven”. Hugie and Butcher will rig up a squad that will help them, this is called “The Boys”.
Murderers, violents and rapists, these are the three main characteristics of these superheroes that don’t behave as they should: the public, in fact, sees them as mankind’s saver, but, in the reality, they are able to do brutal actions like murders, vandalic acts or every types of violences; they make themselfs comfortable and they only think about their carreers.
They are compared to today’s famous people because, like the VIPs, they have their managers and their make-up artists that look after their outward appearance; but their inner looks are often flooded with perverse thought. For this aspect they are not what they seem.
From the vision of this series i have learned that people often use masks to hide their real nature and, when their disguises fall, the rebellion is on.
But, from another part, I am obliged to criticize this series because they have destroyed my childhood: I always seen superheroes as mankind’s savers, but now, i consider them bad people.
But, if you don’t consider this aspect, I will say you that this series is full of explosions, blood and comic scenes that contribute to her beauty.
The series is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, Daniel Attias, Jennifer Phang, Stefan Schwartz, Philip Sgriccia and Frederick and also includes Jack Quaid as Hughie, Karl Urban as William Butcher, Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, Chace Cawford as The Deep, Jessie Usher as A-Train, Dominique McElligot as Queen Meave, Nathan Mitchell as Black noir and many others.
The soundtrack is composed by classic rock songs ( like “Second wind” by Billie Joel)
The first season has been realeased in 2019 while the second season in 2020.
