I BTS, Bangtan Sonyeondan il loro nome esteso, sono una boyband sudcoreana composta da 7 membri, che ha saputo fasi strada nell’industria musicale di tutto il mondo dal 2013 sino ad oggi. Sebbene col tempo i 7 ragazzi d’oro, così rinominati dalla critica, siano diventati i maggiori esponenti del Kpop, questo genere musicale nasce in realtà intorno agli anni ’40 del Novecento. Perché, quindi, i BTS vengono considerati così fondamentali nella storia, non solo del Kpop, ma della Corea stessa ?
I BTS, a differenza di altri artisti e altri gruppi, sono partiti da una piccola agenzia e hanno dovuto impiegare tutte le loro forze per arrivare dove sono ora. Questa piccola casa discografica si chiamava BigHit entertainment e non faceva parte di quelle che erano le big three, ovvero le tre case discografiche più importanti della corea del Sud (SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment). Nel corso del tempo, grazie ai grandi profitti ricavati dal successo dei BTS, la BigHit è cresciuta esponenzialmente ed ha da poco cambiato nome: ora è conosciuta come Hybe entertainment ed ha acquisito anche altre importanti agenzie su suolo americano, come la Ithaca Holding e la Big Machine Records, in mano a Scooter Braun.
Dal 2013 infatti i BTS conoscono un successo gigantesco anche a livello internazionale, come nessun artista coreano aveva mai fatto, nemmeno PSY con la sua Gangnam Style, tormentone del 2012. Il loro successo porta inevitabilmente l’intera industria musicale a crescere ed evolversi, e sempre più artisti coreani riescono ad avere successo fuori dalla Corea. Lo stesso numero di tour mondiali aumenta incredibilmente tanto. Gli artisti che ringraziano i BTS per aver aperto loro la strada sono sempre di più, da Jackson Wang alle Twice, passando per Eric Nam, Monsta X, G-Idle e tanti altri. Il loro successo è tale che il presidente sud coreano decide di assegnare ai BTS l’ordine al merito culturale nel 2018.
Così nasce il famoso hashtag BTS PAVED THE WAY. La loro musica ha aperto le porte dell’intero mondo a tutta la musica sudcoreana. Questo non significa che prima dei BTS non ci sia stato nessuno che abbia a sua volta aperto loro la strada, ma loro l’hanno fatto su scala molto più grande. Il loro successo è inequivocabile tanto che la band conta milioni di fans in tutto il mondo.

BTS, Bangtan Sonyeondan their extended name, is a South Korean boyband composed of 7 members, which has built its success in the music industry around the world since 2013 until today. Although over time the seven golden boys, so renamed by the critics, have become the major exponents of the KPOP, this musical genre was actually born around the 40s of the twentieth century. Why, therefore, are BTS considered so fundamental in the history, not only of Kpop, but of Korea itself ?
BTS, unlike other artists and groups, started from a small agency and had to use all their strength to get where they are now. This small record label was called Bighit entertainment and was not part of what were the big three, the three most important record companies of South Korea (SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment). Over time, thanks to the large profits from the success of BTS, Bighit has grown exponentially and has recently changed its name: now known as Hybe entertainment and has also acquired other major agencies on American soil, such as Ithaca Holding and Big Machine Records, in the hands of Scooter Braun.
Since 2013, in fact, the BTS has known a gigantic success even at an international level, as no Korean artist had ever done, not even PSY with its Gangnam Style, the 2012 musical smash hit. Their success inevitably leads the entire music industry to grow and evolve, and more and more Korean artists manage to succeed outside of Korea. The number of world tours itself increases a lot. A lot of artists thanked BTS for opening the way, from Jackson Wang to Twice, through Eric Nam, Monsta X, G-Idle and many others. Their success is such that the South Korean president decides to assign the BTS the order of cultural merit in 2018.
Thus was born the famous hashtag BTS PAVED THE WAY. Their music opened the doors of the whole world to the South Korean music industry. This does not mean that before BTS there was no one who in turn opened the way for them, but they did it on a much larger scale. Their success is so unequivocal that the band counts millions of fans worldwide.
