Would you ever expect to enjoy whatching chess? Surprisingly, this happened to lots of people all over the world thanks to Pogchamps 3.

PogChamps 3 is a tournament hosted by Chess.com which began on February 14.  Among the 16 participants there are some of the main content-creators for YouTube and variety streamers on Twitch, such as MrBeast, xQc and Pokimane, the actor Rainn Wilson and the rapper Logic. That’s why it’s expected to be one of the most viewed chess tournaments ever. PogChamps 3 has a $100,000 prize fund and the winner of the final on February 28 will take $20,000. During the whole event donations up to $100,000 are being matched to the participants’ preferred charities.

In preparation for the Pogchamps, the celebrities have done their training on their respective Twitch channels with some chess masters, including the highest-rated blitz player in the world Hikaru Nakamura.

All the matches are broadcasted live at 9.30 p.m. CET on Twitch with commentary by Grand Master (GM) Hikaru Nakamura,  International Master (IM) Levy Rozman, GM Danya Naroditsky  and other chess celebrities. The coaches for the players are also the commentators for the matches: this means that the analysis of the games is based on the improvement of the players’ skills. Viewers that are new to chess can learn important notions as well.

The French streamer Sardoche and the Poker star Daniel Negreanu are now leading the competition, but anything can still happen. Who will win the $20,000?
