A phenomenon that is often underestimated is that of trafficking, or the recruitment or transport of people from one country to another, in particular the victims most affected are women and children who during the journey are forced to satisfy the sexual needs of traffickers. Women victims of trafficking are for the most part those from West Africa (Senegal) of Nigerian origin. Women who transport girls to Nigeria for prostitution are called madame or my lady. Unfortunately, women arriving in Italy who have been victims of trafficking do not know how to behave and tend to be very afraid and therefore find it difficult to settle in the place. Fortunately, there are many companies and many companies that deal with trafficking to help them.For example, we can refer to the cestrim which is one of the many centers that welcomes women and children who are victims of trafficking and is a research study center on southern realities.
A very touching story is that of Ashley a 13 year old girl who was a victim of trafficking for two years.
‘’I am Ashley and I have been a victim of trafficking for two years for me it is not easy to tell my story but I think it could help many women and children who are still victims of trafficking today. I must say that it was not easy for me when I was in Nigeria I had to separate from my parents to have a better future given the bad conditions of my country and my family situation. Prostitution was certainly not the best solution but unfortunately before my trip I did not know what I was going through. During my trip they raped me many times and even today I still bear the marks on my skin that do not make me stop remembering what happened to me. They also beat me and raped me they even whipped me, they treated me as if I were an animal, trampling on my dignity. I don’t remember much of that period because most of the time I was locked up in a kind of cell but when I arrived in Italy the offenders threatened me not to have to say anything otherwise I would have paid serious consequences. I was literally terrified, with no hope of life but thanks to Rosa who was part of a center that dealt with trafficking, I was able to open up and reveal the truth so as to do justice to what had happened to me. Today I have a daughter and a husband and I hope to be able to give my daughter everything that I could not receive in childhood and give her a wonderful future as well. If I have to be honest it is not easy to overcome moments like these in life but you need to have courage and be able to move forward and try to forget the past and think more about the beautiful things that life offers us and our future. “
Un fenomeno spesso sottovalutato è quello della tratta, ovvero del reclutamento o del trasporto di persone da un Paese all’altro, in particolare le vittime più colpite sono donne e bambini che durante il viaggio sono costretti a soddisfare i bisogni sessuali dei trafficanti. Le donne vittime di tratta sono per la maggior parte quelle dell’Africa occidentale (Senegal) di origine nigeriana. Le donne che trasportano ragazze in Nigeria per prostituirsi sono chiamate madame o my lady. Purtroppo le donne che arrivano in Italia vittime di tratta non sanno come comportarsi e tendono ad avere molta paura e quindi faticano a stabilirsi sul posto. Fortunatamente, ci sono molte aziende e molte aziende che si occupano di tratta per aiutarli. Ad esempio, possiamo fare riferimento al cestrim che è uno dei tanti centri che accoglie donne e bambini vittime di tratta ed è un centro studi di ricerca su realtà meridionali.
Una storia molto toccante è quella di Ashley, una ragazza di 13 anni vittima di tratta per due anni.
‘’Sono Ashley e sono vittima di tratta da due anni per me non è facile raccontare la mia storia ma penso che potrebbe aiutare molte donne e bambini che ancora oggi sono vittime della tratta. Devo dire che non è stato facile per me quando ero in Nigeria ho dovuto separarmi dai miei genitori per avere un futuro migliore date le pessime condizioni del mio paese e della mia situazione familiare. La prostituzione non era certo la soluzione migliore ma purtroppo prima del mio viaggio non sapevo cosa stavo passando. Durante il mio viaggio mi hanno violentata tante volte e ancora oggi porto ancora i segni sulla pelle che non mi fanno smettere di ricordare cosa mi è successo. Mi hanno anche picchiato e violentato, mi hanno persino frustato, mi hanno trattato come un animale, calpestando la mia dignità. Non ricordo molto di quel periodo perché la maggior parte del tempo stavo rinchiuso in una specie di cella ma quando sono arrivato in Italia i delinquenti mi hanno minacciato di non dover dire nulla altrimenti ne avrei pagato gravi conseguenze. Ero letteralmente terrorizzata, senza speranza di vita ma grazie a Rosa che faceva parte di un centro che si occupava di tratta ho potuto aprirmi e rivelare la verità per rendere giustizia a quanto mi era successo. Oggi ho una figlia e un marito e spero di poter dare a mia figlia tutto ciò che non ho potuto ricevere da piccola e regalarle anche un futuro meraviglioso. Se devo essere sincero non è facile superare momenti come questi della vita ma bisogna avere coraggio e saper andare avanti e cercare di dimenticare il passato e pensare di più alle cose belle che la vita ci offre e al nostro futuro“.
